i'm not regulating this anymore, as you've probably seen.
it's not that i don't care, it's that i don't have the time, and i forget.
to all seven members of the collab: feel free to continue. if someone has something they want to write about, go ahead. the rest of us can write what we think about what they think xD.
if you have something you want people to know, write it here.

Friends vs. Family

So this week's topic is to respond to that age old saying blood is thicker than water. For those of you who have never heard this phrase it basically means that family matters more than anything esle.
The second part of the question is about friends. Can friends be family? Most teenagers would argue yes; most adults would argue no.

All in all, is it really plausible that only those who share a gene pool with you would be there for you through everything?

Here's my take on it. Sure blood is thicker than water. But there is something more than "water" between my friends and me. We are not just swapping petty gossip and doing stupid/dangerous things together. I know that this is all my parents perceive. They think all my friends and I do is party and hang out. I don't know what kind of friends they had when they were my age, but that is not how it works with Glee Club.

I consider my friends my family. A couple of us were sitting around one night and we figured out how our relationship/group dynamic works. All of us are completely fucked up. Mentally at least. All of us are insecure, irrational, passionate, fragile, daring, unaccepted/unpopular, and unique. We all break the stereotypes of what we should be-what people think we should be. At first glance none of us have anything in common. The fact that we are could be friends makes no sense at all. They say birds of a feather flock together, but our backgrounds are worlds apart. We are complete opposites-gay, straight, black, white, extroverted, introverted, academic, slacker. The thing that holds us together is love. That sounds cliche, but it's true. Each one of us has a set of issues that we need to deal with. But we don't judge each other. And we don't say I told you so. We accept everyone, no matter how dysfunctional they may be. No matter how many issues they have. We listen and share. We open up. We just try to help each other through.

To me a key role of "family" is that they are always there for you no matter what. Maybe to adults it seems like teenagers can't do that. Can't be a shoulder to someone 24/7 without asking anything in return. But my friends and I manage to do it. We are there for each other no matter what. We can talk out our problems without fear of being judged. Without the fear that anyone will be disappointed in us. I think it helps that we are all going through the same things. We're all discovering ourselves and learning about the world together. We are leaving the ideas we were raised on behind.

The last thing I have to say is that my friends know everything about me. And I mean everything. They know all my secrets and all my faults. They have seen me at my worst when I am on the edge or when I'm having a break down, when I'm scared and unsure of where I'm going, and when I'm so upset I can't even speak I can only cry and gasp for air. Sure, my parents have seen me like this too. The difference is my friends help me. They understand. They know to hold me until it stops hurting-until I can breathe again. They take one look at my face and know what's up. Know if I need to talk about it or if I just need someone to hold me while I cry or if I need a quick distraction. My parents dismiss my distress as teenagerism. They can't even begin to understand. And they don't want to. So you can see where family falls short. Where age is a barrier that even blood can't break.

So this is my answer. Most sources say that a family is a group of persons of common ancestry. I say that a family is a group of people united by certain convictions; united by common stuggles and triumphs; and united by whispered secrets and shared stories. These are the bonds that blood cannot form; these are the bonds that blood cannot break.

I know there is strength in the differences between us and I know there is comfort where we overlap.

I Think That It's Rant Week...

Originally I was going to rant about flaky people, but I won't.
Because guess what this week is?
Banned Books Week.
So I shall semi-rant about how ridiculous it is to ban words put on mushed up trees.
Semi-rant because I'm not in a ranting mood. More of a sleeping one.

I've never understood this completely. Because when a book is banned, it just gives the author and the book more attention.
Like The Da Vinci Code. Until fundamentalist Christians were all "Woah. Dude. This is blasphemous," not that many people knew about it. And those who did had probably read Angles and Demons, so they knew that Langdon didn't hate the Vatican, just some of the people in it.

I'm looking at my bookshelves right now.
Almost all of them have been banned of challenged.
Everything from The It Girl to The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe*
The best books of all time have been banned, I think.
Like, The Awakening. And A Separate Peace**.
Also, Anne Frank: Diary of a Young Girl. Because it depressed readers. And, in Lebanon, as it positively portrayed Jews.

My favourite challenging has to be A Catcher in the Rye.
Let me tell you about this book.
I hate it.
And it's been banned and challenged since it came out. In 1951.
The same school boards keep trying to ban it. After nearly sixty years.

More information:
http://www.ala.org/ala/issuesadvocacy/banned/bannedbooksweek/index.cfm

Imma go lay down and watch vlogbrothers.

*WTF? Aslan=Jesus
**even though I totally hated A Separate Peace, it's apparently a classic. Whatever.

Il m'aime. Il ne m'aime pas.

I'm combining favorites and rants. Sweet, huh? Here we go.

Movie: currently it's RHPS. not sure what my all time favorite is.
Musical: Hair

Book: The Perks of Being a Wallflower

Quote: "Not everyone has a sob story. Even if they do it's no excuse."
Candy: Twix

Song: Human the Killers

Class: Art/Theatre. It's a tie.

Word: Shyster.

Color:Blue

Shape: squares

Past time: Hanging with my homies.

Place: House on the Rock. closely followed by Hippoland.
Food: Fried Rice.

website: MLIA

tv show: Bones, CSI

And now for the Rant:
This girl got expelled from my school. She's been threatening my friends since the beginning of time and has carried some of the threats out. Why? All because we are friends with her ex. Whether or not her ex deserved to be attacked is not the point. The point is the we, his female friends, never did anything to her ever. Why? Because none of us wanted to deal with her paranoia and various other issues. Some of my friends and I went in to our, for lack of a better word, principal. And we just told the truth. We did make anything up. We didn't have to-that's how bad she treated us. And I was just like, I'm not intimidated. Not for one second. But some of my friends are to the point where they can't even stand to be in the same room as her. This is a school we pay $14,000 to go here we should at least feel safe. She has yet to be punished. Every single time she gets off with a slap on the wrist or less. And it's not stopping her. And she's actually trying to pick fights with us.

Her friends don't see that she was a total bitch to us and we never did anything to her to deserve that.I've been avoiding her since freshman year just so I wouldn't get caught up in all her drama, and I still got bitched out by her for something I didn't even do. They're actually questioning Dr Lee's decision. Like he's just gonna be like oh my bad, threatening to kill people is no big deal. She can come back. They don't see this though. I can understand that. Everyone views their friends as innocent until proven guilty. But still. Get your facts right before you open your mouth.

Follow us like the Pied Piper

This weeks topic is to introduce ourselves. Hey homies I'm Kendra. I like a lot of things. Too many things. Hit my blogspot http://kennitheelehant.blogspot.com/ for that long long list. What I'm going to do here is tell you what I want to accomplish with this. I want to reach out and find other awesome people. People who think like me and my friends. Who just treat people like humans and can get along. Who love theatre and art and anime. I call us the nerdherd. And we may be crazy but we are doing something. Sera came up with the name Evolution Odyssey. Speaking to that, it's the perfect idea. This is our journey to make the world something we can love and live in. Everyone needs to evolve. The boundaries of black, white, straight, and gay are all in your mind. It's time to unlearn all those lies kid. Evolve.

So hi. I am the Friday poster. I'm babbling but it's 12:59 am where I am so forgive me. I want to reach out like TWLOHA and help people. Of course you have to be 18 to work there so forget that. I can't wait until I'm 18. Our generation needs help now. So I will start now. Send us questions. We got answers. Follow us like the Pied Piper.

Peace to you,
Kendra<3

Spinach

Aaaaas you see below me and have probably figured out by now, this week's theme is self introductions. Oh boy!

Since I'm the third to post (Wednesdays, HELL YES), that means I don't really have to cover much. Except the whole talking about myself thing. I guess I'll just tell you what you need to know.

My name is Sera. Call me Sera. I'm awesome. I'm a Junior in high school and I spend maybe 90% of my time either on the computer or watching TV (often both). I'm always either IMing someone or texting someone, but I rarely attend social gatherings. Because I'm a looooossseerrrr.

I really like people, unless they give me a direct reason to dislike them. I'm always taking pictures of things, most of which aren't good enough to make it to any sort of photosharing website (so they just end up on Facebook).

I have the most diverse group of friends you have ever heard of. A lot of different stereotypes (hyperactive punk/scene poser, hipster lesbian, indie/scene black chick that could kick your ass, stereotypical geek, stereotypical nerd, stereotypical badass/loverboy, etc.) and races (srsly, we even have a halfrican), as well as cultures. Our relationships with eachother are confusing, and it still perplexes me that we can get along so well (or at all, really). But we do, which I think is fantastic.

I love to talk. You just have to start the conversation.

The Queen is Well Bing-Bing

Yo'.
My name is Amy.
I'm Tuesday.
I will change the world.
I love tea and am pretty damn UK-ish.
I have an opinion on everything.
I have a really old soul.
I have to listen to music constantly.
And it's normally music that you have never heard of before.
I always have a book to read.
Also, I'm a writer, so I always have a notebook.
I love cute notebooks that were made from cotton and paper products. And legal pads.
And I really suck at introductions.
Stalk me: http://www.twitter.com/amyleona

<--- This is me.
I told you that I love tea.

sunny sundays

okay so, I'm the Sunday poster and I go by Katy.
here are just a few things about me. this isn't anywhere near everything though.

- -

likes: you, me, big comfy colorful sweaters, skinny jeans, strawberry banana smoothies, sexy men, sexy women, video games, nerds, MSN, AIM, AriZona green tea, drawing, weird music, being 5'4''

dislikes: Megan Fox, pompous people, people who shove their beliefs down your throat, bugs, dust, tuna casserole, the plaid shirt trend, small dogs, overstuffed backpacks, short power cords, itchy pillows, bootcut jeans, my hair, WoW, bad man perfume, rap, country

favorite places: Chicago, Miami, Jamba Juice

favorite games: BioShock, ROSE

- -

I'm a sophomore in high school and I hate doing homework. I'm super lazy so I just end up doing something else after like 5 minutes of work or less.
I'm nice to everybody at first but I can be very mean if you give me any reason to dislike you.
I love talking about my nerdy computer/gaming hobby. I'm always on AIM or texting.
I don't do anything unless it's actually going to be fun. I'm not into just doing stuff because the popular kids are and everyone's invited. also, I'm deathly afraid of driving.

by the way, I'm Cuban, not Jewish.
also, I am a MASSIVE camwhore.

Monday on a Sunday/Saturday Depending on the Time Zone

Alright so, I'm not sure that I'll have time to get a post up on Monday so I figured I'd do it a little early.

Real quick basic acct. info:
The week for us will start on Monday, and end on Sunday.
We'll talk about anything and everything.

Anyway...
I'm the Monday blogger. For all legal purposes, my name is Lauren. I don't know what I want to be called for all social purposes. I have never truly identified with my name, and I don't think I ever will. So I've played around with the idea of using my middle name, Taylor. I'm not sure, but I'd like your thoughts on that.
So I basically wanted to start this because I really enjoy youtube collabs, but I have no interest in starting one on youtube, and I like to blog so I thought this would be a good idea.
I don't know what to really say right now, as I'm awful at writing about me things but basically what you should know is...
I like the colors red, navy, green, black, and orange. I don't date men. I identify as genderqueer as of now, but that could always change. I'm a sophomore, but I'm looking to go to college next year (Simon's Rock).
My myspace is: myspace.com/135391273
This is what I look like:
Photobucket

If I think of anything else, I'll be sure to update this post :D.
I have high expectations for this project.
